A few details
Creating a broadly connected company, from suppliers to producers to customers to the customers’ customers, that can react more quickly to changes in supply and demand. The goals were:
How it’s solved
Know: Connect employees with experts and knowledge to improve outcomes in all you do for your company, your suppliers and your customers.
Deliver: Improve how to capture, access and deliver information necessary to develop innovative products and distinct customer value.
Inspire: Embed knowledge sharing in the company’s culture to make a difference in our employee’s lives by helping them grow professionally and be more successful in their careers.
I first analyze the business problem and IT strategy in order to draft a solution. Based on the company goals of accessing relevant information needed to being immediately productive, without having to spend hours searching in multiple locations, I conduct research on the tools and processes being used.
Passion drives the team and successes motivates.
The plan involved integrating users’ email, tasks, calendar, personal web sites, data and presence. The design calls for integrating SharePoint data, the Exchange mailbox, Lync IM functionality, and Yammer communities for one clear view of all personal data. And this is the end result.
Search is the driver to find people, expertise, knowledge and brings it all together for a great personalized experience.
Research includes what tools and technologies we’ll need in the future to extend the portal. Mobile connectivity requires some research and discussion.
We plan for success by measuring specific KPI’s such as adoption and engagement rates. How will this solution meeting or exceeding the goals?
Search is successful when people can find what they need, when they need it and from any device.
Whether you need to scale for the Internet or you want to scale for the future, hybrid cloud infrastructures provide the scale while reducing the financial risk of spending too much too soon.
This portal was designed to share internal data, finding enterprise knowledge that is difficult to locate and is presented to the user with little effort.
Monitoring both the use for an accurate TCO assessment and infrastructure availability was critical for the business to perform at peak and to justify future investments.
What the customers see
Users across every department in the company now had the one tool they used everyday to improve data sharing, collaboration and helped improve business decisions. Whether they are at their desktop browser or on the go with their mobile devices, the users had the right tool at the right time.
Making the app managable
I took the original on-premise SharePoint infrastructure and moved them to a next generation hybrid cloud infrastructure. This allowed the company to leverage existing infrastructure investments, processes while at the same time upgrading the entire environment and providing a culture changing reboot. All backend systems are fully integrated and communicate allowing a seamless experience
